In 2023, supporters of abortion rights in Arizona launched what turned into the largest signature-gathering campaign in state history. I joined the effort partway through the signature phase, and while there was already a visual identity in use, I was able to introduce refinements. As one of three designers primarily working on Arizona for Abortion Access, I contributed to social media and some print publications at a time when the issue had become very, very salient in state politics.

In July, the Arizona for Abortion Access initiative officially qualified for the ballot as Proposition 139. That meant there was a new task—earning votes—and three shiny new digits to go in the logo.

Most campaign graphics were bilingual into Spanish, with translations produced by me in collaboration with two native speakers.

The new logos created continuity with the existing assets and, on a crowded ballot with 11 statewide ballot initiatives and several more local propositions facing most voters, reinforce that 139 was the one about abortion access. The new logo was used by the entire campaign, including on projects managed by other subcontractors.

Our strong message carried us to a commanding 60–40 win at the polls, enshrining protections for abortion into the Arizona state constitution.

Look in the middle upper left: yes, that's Chrissy Teigen wearing my logo!
